Communication is the key throughout the whole design process, from initial discussions with the client, through to formal discussions with the Planning Department and finally, with the contractor on site. If you can convey your ideas, designs and details to the contractor throughout the construction process it can assist in alleviating a whole host of communication problems during the contract period through the use of 3D detailing. As the choice of building materials and building techniques expands, it becomes even more important that the contractor understands your design intentions from day one!
